In 2016, we organized a meeting of a network of people with common values, but who will see each other for the first time. How to quickly bridge such a strange moment when a multitude of unknown people meet before the ice is broken? After some great brainstorming, we put together a concept that was enough to complete — the Triads. A triad is a tool that makes 3 strangers acquaintances, sometimes even friends, within 60 minutes.

Why three people?

Because the Trinity is a very special grouping. The pair is small for networking and will quickly exhaust their potential when dating or forming. A group of 4 or more people loses intimacy and sharing, especially personal items, only goes on the surface. A threesome is just right. It's still small enough to be safe to share, and at the same time offers interesting dynamics. When two are talking to each other, the third can observe and bring disinterested input, observation and thus spark further discussion. Even according to tribal leadership (Tribal Leadership), the triad is the cornerstone of a strong Tribal Culture 4 — “WE”, where people care about each other and care about the prosperity of the whole tribe.

What does such a tool look like?

In addition, so that it is scalable and you could use it in a group of 100 people, for example?

Everyone is given a pencil and their triad paper, where they find instructions and free boxes where to write notes during the interview, which they will use later. You can see the explanation of the use of the tool in the following video:

As you can see, the tool itself will guide the trio of people through dating. But dating doesn't always have to be the only goal. Triads can be easily adapted for any other context. Let's take a look at a few other uses that we have recently implemented tailored to our customers.

Modification: Breaking the Ice at the Conference

At the conference BusinessCon we traditionally use triads right from the start to break the ice between participants. It is a conference of entrepreneurs, so in triads, instead of personal values, we focused on how entrepreneurs can help each other, or what new business they can start together.

Modification: Preparation of inputs for subsequent workshop

Some time ago we facilitated a workshop for about 130 leaders from CZ/SK Microsoft and instead of values (classic triads) or mutual assistance (BusinessCon triads), we focused on preparing a specific topic for solution for the subsequent workshop.

Modification: Fast teaming in RebeleReader

Since 2017, we have been implementing together with colleagues from RedButton leadership program RebeleReader for the Slovak Tatrabank. There we use the first day of the triad and other tools for quick teaming, where in one afternoon we form functional teams based on mutual knowledge and trust from unknown people.
